Training & Development

A young man does a handstand while wearing a wet suit on a beach. A man and a woman stand behind him, wearing wet suits in the sea.
Training and Development is provided on an ongoing basis to support our staff in developing their skills, knowledge and confidence in reaching their full potential when supporting the people in our services at Blue Triangle.

Here at Blue Triangle, we invest heavily in staff training and have a fantastic training team to ensure that all of our staff are equipped to do their jobs to the best of their ability, whilst providing exceptional support and care for our supported people.  We also ensure that our staff are all SSSC and Care Inspectorate compliant.

Training Programme

Our Training team have tailored our training programme to suit all areas of the organisation including face-to-face training, and a full programme of additional online learning resources including e-learning for staff and volunteers. We have partnered with organisations such as Scottish Drugs Forum, Hepatitis Scotland, Suzy Lamplugh Trust, Public Health and Scotland, British Red Cross, SAY Women and many more specialist organisations. We have a Learning and Skills Platform which currently has over 270 pieces of content ranging from eLearning courses, videos and journal articles on various topics.  This blended learning approach also provides a more flexible approach to learning and this in turn benefits our staff who are working a variety of shifts.

Our training content covers the following:

  • Health and Safety
  • First Aid
  • Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
  • Links Between Homelessness and Child Sexual Abuse
  • Gender Based Violence
  • Recording for Social Care
  • Naloxone Awareness
  • Lone Working
  • Change Management
  • UK SMART Recovery
  • Scottish Mental Health First Aid
  • Suicide Intervention/Prevention
  • Bespoke Trauma Informed training

Our Training Team regularly review training feedback to ensure that our training is still relevant and tailored (where required) to suit the needs of our staff in our services.  It is crucial that we continue to work with our colleagues across our organisation to keep them engaged and to keep our knowledge up-to-date, to ensure we continue to fully support the people in our services.

Management / Leadership Development Programme

In addition to the above, our Training Team also work closely with our People Team in delivering a suite of management / leadership development which engages, motivates and develops our people in line with their professional development and career progression.

SVQ Programme

Our Training team manage our SVQ programme, funding and supporting all staff across all of our services in helping them to achieve their qualifications. We fund a variety of SVQ levels within this programme each year working with external providers.  We have received excellent feedback from our staff regarding their experience which is great and not only helps with their day-to-day roles but also in progressing their career.

In all aspects of our Training at Blue Triangle, we seek to be inclusive, engaging and have a values-based approach to all of our learning and development.
