A group of S6 pupils from three Paisley schools chose Blue Triangle for their Mark Scott Award project, creating 30 thoughtful welcome and move‑on packs for people moving into our supported accommodation. Their project demonstrates creativity, compassion and a strong commitment to supporting people facing homelessness in their community.
Why the Pupils Chose Blue Triangle
The pupils decided to support Blue Triangle after learning about our work and hearing the story of one pupil whose family member had been supported by us. Wanting to give something meaningful back, they worked together to produce support packs filled with helpful essentials including toiletries, cosy socks, tea bags and other small items that make settling into a new environment feel less overwhelming.
As part of their Mark Scott Award learning, the pupils teamed up with Primary 7 classes to talk about homelessness and reflect on what ‘home’ means to them. Together, they created handwritten cards with messages of encouragement and hope. These cards were included in each pack, adding a warm, personal touch that reminds supported people that their community cares.
To help gather supplies, St Andrew’s High School ran a collection where pupils donated items for the project. This support made it possible to complete all 30 packs, each one designed to offer comfort and reassurance at a key moment of transition.
Last week, the pupils visited our Abercorn service to deliver the finished packs. Staff and supported person James welcomed them and thanked them for their kindness and initiative. Their contribution will help people feel more settled as they take steps toward stability and independence.
We are grateful to everyone involved for choosing Blue Triangle as part of their Mark Scott Award journey. Their work reflects the values of empathy, leadership and community spirit that the award aims to inspire.
